Conscious Discipline teaches children self-regulation techniques. This chart allows kids to choose the way they are feeling. In our rooms we have a calming spot where kids can go if they need a little break to get their minds and bodies ready for learning.

I Love You rituals provide opportunities for children to connect with adults as well as peers. We do these rituals through songs, finger plays and a "wish you well" board.
We practice calming down by using these 4 techniques: Star, Balloon, Drain and Pretzel. Each has the child taking deep breaths in through their nose and out their mouth. We do one technique several times to get the kids back on track and settled down to listen and learn.
